I have a 2001 Triton Tr186dc dual console with a Merc 150 XR6 with a 23 pitch Tempest Plus prop. It carries a heavy load, it has been described as a floating Bass Pro Shops fishing dept. plus I ain't no light weight myself. Hole shot has always been fair but could be better top end with full tank of fuel and two people hit about 60@gps and 5600 rpm. I have always wanted a jackplate and thinking that may be my Christmas present to myself. So question is what would be the best size and how much installed. I've got some vacation time coming up and was going to my Dad's in Mineola so I could bring it in then. Also need to have my prop checked due to hitting a stump during the summer and had to have the prop shaft replaced.

Thanks

JEEZ------60 MPH WITH A 150! I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT A JACK PLATE, BUT I FISH WEST GALVESTON BAY. i rarely use it to help with speed, more for getting up and around in shallow water. i'm pretty sure you could milk a few more mph with it.

X2 on that! I couldnt imagine getting 60 out of my 150, totally different boat however. My boat gets faster the higher I jack the engine but its a totally different rig,

If youre wanting one....get one, id say that with any boat, the less motor in the water makes less drag, makes more MPH, just have to watch water pressure from there

Steve will chime in about a jackplate in a few.

If your prop just needs some hammer love it is $60 but if it needs welding and a repolish then its the full $155. Theres a 10% december discount here right now also.

TR 186 runs a 6" plate.

2 options.
6" magnum (1/2" metal) is 325.95
6" standard (3/8's metal) is 275.95

if you fish ALOT then i'd go with the magnum.

150.00 to instal and set the prop shaft height.

call or come by anytime and i can get the work done for you.

Ok I'll give you a call when it gets a little closer to Christmas. I'm actually off the week of and week after Christmas so can see what the weather and your schedule looks like. I'll go with the Magnum too.

Thanks,

Not really sure, when the insurance adjuster inspected it and authorized the repair work he said it needed repairing too. I'll get it to you guys when I get the JP installed and leave it with you and I can always have my Dad pick it up. Thanks,
