I was polishing up my Albright Junction knot skills, watched some YouTube primers on the knot.

Hmm? Some wrap the fluorocarbon leader around their braid, some wrap the braid around the fluorocarbon. It made a very big difference for me (one knot was super strong, the other slipped apart easily) which line was "on top" so to speak.

I used 10 lbs. Sufix 832 and Seaguar Fluorocarbon 8 lbs. I mention my lines thinking the relative size of one to the other might be an influence on the knot's outcome.

Curious . . . a popular knot, for sure, so wondering who makes the wraps with the braid, who with the fluoro?

Wrap the braid main line around the flouro leader

That is exactly what worked for me. The braid snugs up/ cuts into the fluoro and made for a great knot. When I tied it the other way, fluoro wrapped around the braid? It slipped apart.

Yet, there are many examples on YouTube of the opposite. Maybe it works well on larger lines. One of the videos doing it this way was some offshore boat dude.

I wrap the braid main line around the flouro leader. The leader will break before the knot will. I've never done it any other way.
