Either I get em as a gift or I am going to buy myself them. They are three of the Bass Pro Maxx Signature Series Crappie Rods. The 7",8",and 10" Rods. Would love to build up my Crappie arsenal.

New hiking boots and wading boots. The new dog chewed up both of them, LOL!! New hat, fly vest, fly boxes and outdoor clothes would complete the list.

I have been fly fishing for the last few years and so far all I have is a 9-foot 6 weight, which is great for the bass I catch in local ponds but a bit heavy for the sunfish that live there. After catching a mess of rainbows in Colorado in October, I am hoping for a 9-foot 4 weight to to not only venture to Oklahoma for trout, but also to better target sunfish closer to home. My 6 weight catches them just fine, I just think they would be a bit more fun on a lighter rod.

It helps me tremendously when feeling the bite. Alot of the 4 weights I see come in 7.5 ft lengths. That's what I have. I bet a 9 feet 4 weight would be even better. Hope Santa brings you one. He usually just robs me, LOL!!!

It was probably not very good by today's standards, but I wish I could get my hands on the bamboo fly rig I had when I was a kid. I grew up in Port Neches, and when I was in high school in the late seventies I'd always stop in at Walter's Hardware on my way to my after school job. Walter liked to fish, and sold pretty much everything you would ever need to get a line wet. Every time I walked through the door I'd look at the bamboo fly rig he had for sale. At that point in my life I'd never seen anyone fish with a fly rod and had in fact only seen them in the pages of Field & Stream magazine. It looked exotic, with the beautiful striations from the bamboo, the strange looking twists on the guides, the colorful line and the strange reel. There was a trout net and a wicker creel displayed with the rig, all mounted on the wall above a display case filled with dry flies. For some reason all of this spoke to me about the romance of the outdoors. I don't remember how much it cost, but it couldn't have been much because one day I gave in and bought it with my part-time wages earned bagging groceries at the little market at the other end of the street. This was back in the old days before the Internet, so there weren't any resources like Youtube for a budding self-taught fly fisherman. I practiced but just couldn't seem to get the hang of it, and to say I was NOT Brad Pitt in A River Runs Through It would be an understatement. To the casual onlooker I probably looked like I was being stung by bees! Of course, that fly rig is long gone now. I don't know exactly what happened to it but it's a good bet than one of my three younger brothers probably had something to do with its disappearance when I was in the Navy. So, to answer the original question... I think I'd like a cheap (if there is such a thing anymore) bamboo fly rig for Christmas.

I'm good.. I'm in my Christmas present every time I hit the key and take off across the water. And next years present, and the next, and the next, and the next...... Maybe a 20' SeaArk to replace my 1872 but I don't think Santa can get one of those on his sleigh.
1960texan, I was raised in Beaumont and lived in Nederland before I went i the Navy. Fond memories of that area if you could get past the smell of the chemical plants.
