I have a 2006 zx225 with the normal wear and tear on the hull and top cap. The back driver side has started to oxidize and its driving me nuts. I buffed out the entire boat and it looked great for about two weeks and now the cloudy oxidation is back on the sponsoon??? did I not get through the oxidation or will it do that? I didn't go crazy with the compound for fear of cutting through the top coat. I used Maguire's oxidation past and wax......I will try and post a pic but it looks like every other oxidized boat.

Gel coat has no type top/clear coat finish to it. Boat will need to be wet sanded, then polished and waxed.

Wet sanding will produce the same temporary result as buffing/compounding. Once gelcoat begins to "die" it's really on it's way out.

I, like Bob stated have never seen a "fix" that would last on gel coat that is going bad due to too much weather.

You might want to look on bbcboards.net & go down to the restoration section. This issue has come up several times and there is a lot of information concerning this problem. For some reason bbcboards.net appears to be down temporarily.
Have a Blessed Day, Mike

Wipe it down overtime you fish and wipe with Slick Mist every 2 weeks. Won't restore it,but will protect it longer.

you will need to wetsand and polish it. You can get rid of the oxidation and polish it back to like new and it will stay that way if you take care of it. Here is a video we did of wet sanding/polishing to remove oxidation:
