Do any of you guys still use 6' rods for throwing spinnerbaits? I find that shorter and lighter rods are not as tiring, especially with relatively light weight spinnerbaits.

Only in very, very heavy tall bushes. Shorter the better with a line you can see very well so you can lay it down in the smallest of cracks.
6 1/2 footer MH light tip on most shore line heavy cover with stumps and grass with short cast most of the time.
Open shore line with rock and grass mostly throwing a 7' MH with a light tip, using both hands to make long cast.
Deep water strolling with 7 1/2 foot Crig. rod in MH. fished 20 to 30 ft. with braid so I can feel every tick.

I use 7 foot rods for spinner baits. 50% of my casts are 20 feet or less.

Thanks for the replies. Been using a 6' Medium Action for throwing little crank baits. Awesome how light and easy that thing casts. So, started thinking about buying a 6' MH for throwing 3/8 and 1/4 oz. SBs over shallow grass and around boathouses. Haven't decided, just thinking.

I use a 6'3" medium G .Loomis spinnerbait rod for tight spaces and in between docks. It has worked flawlessly for the 6 years I've had it. I normally don't go under 7' anymore. Mainly because I'm tall and I like the longer rods. To each his own though.

Thanks for the reply. A 6'3" might still have the advantage of a short rod, with the extra three inches helping with the hook set. Interesting.

I prefer a 7 ft, but for somebody that does, I bet I have 9 or 10, maybe more 6'9" spinner bait rods. I don't know why I have so many spinner bait rods. I dont throw a spinner bait anymore than I do anything else.
Thanks, Billy
