Cold galvanized aerosol spray on any clean bare steel will help reduce the rust.
I look at it like putting zinc anodes on a trailer.

I need to get the boat off the trailer but i hope that the roached part can be cut out. I'm a tech dummy, don't know how to post pics.
Go to a busy boat ramp and look at some older trailers that have had the crossmembers fixed/re-inforced, you might get some good ideas on a fix. I honestly have never seen one where they cut out the crossmembers and replaced them, it almost always involves fabricating a sleeve and just fitting it over the existing rusted out part or boxing in the middle with heavy angle iron.

My 2003 Tritron trailer broke in October I have a welder but like others have stated to much rust to fix A guy on craigslist builds them for $2250 what I got was the worst trailer possible crooked out of square fenders not on right late delivery you name it now I'm stuck cutting this junk up and trying to fix it myself. The add says located just east of Dallas ect avoid them I think the best deal would have been with Ssmith that I found on here

I just went through this. I bought new channel iron and fabbed a new frame then reused the axles, fenders, jack, bunk boards, and lights. I did get a new hitch too. Cost me about six hundred bucks and a day and a half of working on it. I sprayed all the new metal with ospho and will use spray on bedliner as the finish .
Was my cheapest best option, but it have a cutting torch and welder to work with.
I swear it loads easier now than it ever has before.
Goodluck
