There are several threads in the Fly Fishing section. Are you fly fishing, using an ultra light spinning rod or planning on using bait?

Not fly fishing. I guess spinning rod setup. Any tips for setup and technique?

Ultra light spinning rod with Berkley Trilene XL 4 lb line. 6 pound would also work but would have fewer strikes.
1) Use a red/brass Super Duper 502 in deeper pools. Vary the retrieve until you figure out what they want.
2) Use 3" Berkley PowerBait Trout Worms on an Eagle Claw #8 bait hook and a very small split shot 6" above the hook. Use the trout worm in moving shallow water. Cast it up stream and let it drift down. I prefer red worms in the middle of the day and orange worms at dawn & dusk. I want to see the worm and if I can't see the color, I set the hook. I think the other colors will be equally effective except natural which you will never see. I like the Eagle Claw bait hook as it has 2 barbs on the back side of the hook which prevents the worm from sliding down. The split shot should be smaller than a BB.
3) Use a 1/80 oz. green Near Deer jig fly 18" under an Orange Palsa float indicator. Cast it upstream and watch the Palsa float indicator drift downstream. When the float indicator goes under, set the hook. This is a fly fishing technique so it will be difficult to cast. You make have to ditch the Palsa float indicator for a thingamabob to use as an indicator/float. You are trying to drag the jig along the bottom or close to it. TarponFly makes and sells the Near Deers. You can find his website by searching for Carey Thorn - Texas Oklahoma Fishing Guide.

You will need a stringer for each person fishing and it should be tagged with info from your Oklahoma fishing license.

There are special regulations in some of the areas. Several websites have outdated rules and regulations so go to the official Oklahoma website.

How do you rig the worm? Weedless/ nose/ wacky? Thank you in advance.

The trout worm and hook are too small to rig weedless. Just slide 1/4" of the worm nose up the hook. If the worm gets beat up, just bite off 1/4" and fish a 2 3/4" worm. The stream bed is pretty rocky so it doesn't get hung up.

When fishing with the light line, retie often. Usually after each fish or you will lose a big trout.

Powerlizard said it all.

If you just want to catch some for the grill, "real" red salmon egg bumped along the bottom with a small enough split shot, where doesn't hang up all the time. Very small hooks. I use size 18. You can get them at Barlow's Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop whichever is closer.

Figure out where Cold Hole is. Right now it's a blown out bridge. Upstream that is a white pipe. Fish anywhere around that and you'll do fine. Watch what zone you're in. In red zones you're supposed to fish artificial only no Barb. Is bait and artificial Barb's allowed.

Rapalas are getting some big fish below Rapids all over the park system.

My son and I spent a few days up there last week (before Thanksgiving) despite the crowds and difficulty finding unused water, we managed to catch 20 or so throwing 1/32 oz panther martins, 1/24 oz rooster tails and gold/red super dupers all on ultralight gear (4-6 lb test). We missed as many or more than we caught. We saw a lot of fish being caught by everyone and all types of methods. Most of our trout were the smaller stocker varieties, but I did manage to catch and land a rainbow that went around 4+ lbs which was a personal best for me. All in all a great time and the river looks amazing after the floods.

The cool thing about your report, is that you can probably replicate it every time you go up there all year long. They start 2000 trout every two weeks all year. 10 to 20% of what they stock are over 20 inches. Usually.
