I really enjoy saltwater fishing, but I don't know of many spots to go where you can actually catch fish (redfish, trout, flounder). Is anybody willing to share any good (free) places to fish on the bank within 1:45 mins of Katy Texas. I like fishing in Freeport, it's an easy drive. I've tried the beach, the jetty, San Luis pass, and under the bridge. All with little luck, except San Luis. I would rather lure fish than bait fish but I don't mind either. I'm not sure about wade fishing and I might be getting a kayak. Thanks for any advice.

I've been having luck on bolivar north of crystal beach surf fishing. Bad news is lot's of places i've been fishing are disappearing due to erosion. Big rods, big bait (whole finger mullet or 1/3 to 1/2 cut big mullet.)
