All that rain in the Brazos Basin has upped Lake Whitney to 14' above pool level this morning. Probably still rising too. The COE is letting a lot of water out of the dam and the river is near maximum level without going into flood stage. The last time we had these conditions it took about a day for the lake to drop one foot. It's about two weeks away from getting back to normal pool elevation if that calculation still holds. Of course if a lot of water is till coming into the lake then it will take longer. So about two weeks minimum I'd guess before there's a chance to fish below the Whitney dam again. Possibly a few days longer than that.

20145 cfs per second = 1,208,700 per hour. 8 gallons per cf converts that to 9,660,600 gallons per hour or 232,070,400 gallons per day, or 1,624,492,800 gallons per week. That's a lot of water under the bridge. If my math is correct.

The problem I have had the past 3 weeks is not being able to launch my kayak at Riverside Park to go downstream to fly fish. I talked to someone last week and they said the gate will be locked for a while and that was before this last batch of rain. It may be a while before things settle down enough to get in the water to fish.
