3/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c boiling water
1/2 c sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

Cook stirring constantly until it starts to thicken. add in
1 1/2 c milk beaten with 3 egg yolks.

Keep cooking until it thickens again.

Take off the heat and add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pour into a cooked pie crust and bake at 400 just 5 minutes or so until the top is browned. This is normally covered in meringue or whipped cream.

I looked all over the store and could not find boiling water. I found Dasani, Great Value, Ozarka...all sorts of water
but could not find boiling. Where do you get your at?
Sounds like a great tasting pie though!

Light brown sugar or dark brown sugar?

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

Either one works. This recipe is from my 1945 Texas cooking cookbook. It didn't specify.
