Personally when rebuilding an engine. I want the injectors cleaned. The fuel pump tested and oil pump replaced/ or checked out. I prefer a short block. Versus boring. You can build em tight and tighter than new, but it's not cheap. A lot of people cheap out, or their shop is not performing all of the tasks paid for. A good compression test will show a lot. Also the quality of work done. Bolts should be clean and not roughed up. High quality tools leave fewer marks. Quality tools shows a tech that has been around and values precision. He usually does not want a motor coming back.

Thanks I can't make up my mind guess ill just take them to the shop and have them checked out to try to narrow it down more the ranger has no graphs the cat has high dollar graphs but some oxidizing and the stratos needs nothing has graphs and is in great shape with a 225 evenrude

Definitely test drive both boats and don't be scared to punch them.Then you will know what you're buying. If neither performs to your satisfaction keep looking. If either gives you any problems whatsoever run don't walk away.

An outboard always runs great right before it blows. I don't know why that is but it's true.
