Dang I looked through here before making my post about it and I totally glanced over your post. Did you end up heading out there today? I am curious about fishing back there. Any tips?

Yeah I did go and did about 30 minutes casting, no luck. As you already know the water is up to the tree lines and rising, so you need waders to wade down beyond the treeline, be VERY CAREFUL deep dropoff in many places... 2-3 foot column of water come over the spillway creates lots of oxygen, looks very fishable, very little underbrush remain, no snagging, just some short grass bed which you can easily pull off. Don't have any specific to give you because haven't caught a fish there yet... I tried top water and swim bait this afternoon with no luck. Next time I'll just focus on the river channel and around the little submerged dam, Carolina bucktail with 2 oz weight or soaking baits across the channel... Here's couple pics from this afternoon. ..

12-7-2015, the river is down 3-4 foot,is choked with bait fish, saw several people fished at the swirls area but didn't see anyone caught fish, people came and left quickly... I made a couple casts with a Carolina bucktail b4 it got caught up with the power lines, lol...

The river is choked with bait and I couldn't get a bite on fresh gizzard shad...

Great to hear that, fish were active feeding ... the bad news is river is rising again, hope they still hang around. I still have some 5 days old shad just in case... smile

Update for 12/14 after the big rain,
Birds no longer flocking the spillway, there were two of us throwing weighted bobber to the spillway but there were no taker...but managed to catch a fad 24" hybrids and two 16" whitebass.

Skunked out... fished 4 hrs with nothing to show. Went down stream and fished for a bit with spinners hopping for sandies. So much bait fish in the water it's crazy.

Going back to Denison
