great to see new people joining our growing family of "lurists". i'm enjoying all the new patterns.
the baits in the pic are done in silver and gold leaf as a base for minnows, shad, etc. what i'm looking for are some ideas on finishing these up. i've been looking at them for weeks and decided to tap into the creativity on the forum.
btw. the one in the background is one i just covered in holographic foil. still working on getting the foil to look like i want.

Holographic foils have the color shift quality of Threadfin shad particularly. Gizzard shad pattern would be a good one for the gold silver foil. A bream pattern could be awesome over the gold/silver foil. Smallmouth bass pattern fits the coloration as would a black bass pattern if done right. Transparent paints over foil create some great colors and still keep the reflective quality of the foil. Iridescent paints over foil give the flash a color shift as light strikes the lure from different angles. My 2cents. Best foil idea I've seen...outstanding work. thumb texas

I would make one suggestion not mentioned so far I did one with a gold leaf above the lateral line with a pearl blk back and orange belly like a classic manns pattern and it absolutely killed fish until I lost it in a fishes mouth. I bet I caught 200 fish on that one crank this past spring. Probably was one of my favorites from this year and for some reason I haven't done another one.

Any shad pattern would be great too, your purple and yellow with the gold might be very productive as well.

i like the pearl black back and orange belly. what blank did you use.
i'm going to try the "smallie" color pattern, or maybe a modified look, one one of them. it could be really good or another one for the epic fail gallery.

just tried another idea. i put holographic foil on the lower part of a blank and gold leaf on the back and upper sides. i think it's going to be a good look but i learned something that will help in the future. the adhesive under the foil will bleed through enough to grab the leaf so anywhere the leaf touches on the foil it sticks. i didn't think about that and consequently a good deal of the holo foil got covered with the leaf. have to keep the leaf off the foil completely to maintain the separation. will know better next time.

Well, the 2.5 is more in line with the Gizzard Shad, in terms of size and shape and the 1.5 is more like a Threadfin. Coffin bill blanks are more the shape of Bream or Crappie. But any pattern can go on any blank regardless of shape or size...I like to keep the blank aligned to the actual shape and size of the species...just my personal preference. Your foil ideas are great thumb texas

The Bagley Foil Shads where all great patterns back in my day when the SMALL Fry first came out. You can see all of them here but I like this Black Back one best and caught many a big bass on it.

Google Bagley Small Fry to see them all including the gold one.

This is my favorite. Still have a couple.

The foil treatment reminds me of a new process that's being use on spinnerblades that etches the blade in a way that causes light to reflect off the blade in many different angles from a light source...awesome work. Betting it glows like a light bulb in clear waters. thumb
