When you remove the carpet check to make sure that if you pull the plugs that they fill the boat with foam. Reseal them or the foam will saturate with water.

All great advise. Don't rush give yourself a full day to carefully remove the old carpet and try not to rip it as this will be your template for your new carpet.Make sure as you cut your new carpet the the carpet grain is going in the same direction. Take your time and when in doubt always over cut,you can fine trim later. Its not a hard job,but it is very detail oriented work. Good luck. Show us before and after pics.

Thanks for all the responses. Based on my limited free time, looks like a job for the pros.

Pay attention to what SK1 said about the grain of the carpet. If you don't keep the carpet going the same direction on every surface it will stand out like a sore thumb. You'll swear it's a different color on that one lid you got wrong. And DON'T use that indoor outdoor carpet glue. Use contact cement. +1 on the basscat carpet. Also +1 on the carpet sheers. You can get a nice pair at home depot for about $15, won't fray the edges like a dull razorblade. They get dull before you know it 1/2 way down the cut you're trying to make
