First of all, that's a great fish.
I measured the fish and measuring stick and did the math. That fish is 21" or very close to it. A 21" fish at 100% relative weight is around 5.4 lbs. That fish looks to be very thin, I would guess 80% or so of relative weight, so I would put it at 4.3 to 4.5 lbs.
There is no way that fish is over 5.5 lbs. The guesses so far are way off IMO. You measured the measuring stick? Thats a 4lb fish? Really? This might blow your mind, but an 18" ruler isn't 18" on a computer screen. Have to measure in pixels to get the ratio of the stick to the fish, and then you can convert to inches since we know the measuring stick is 18". I didn't think it was that hard to understand. The fish is nowhere big as you think it is. Based on the length, that fish would have to be over 160% of relative weight to be 9 lbs, and it's nowhere near that relative weight. Sorry for the bad news! Hahaha you are a computer fisherman, you measure computer pixels to determine the weight of the fish...LOL You are too funny. You need more time on the water so you can catch fish like one in the picture so you know that one that is over 5.5 pounds.

This guy I know who caught the fish, he photo-shopped the fish, he has one hand that's twice the size of the other, he breaks the jaw of every fish he catches just on general principal AND needs a good scale.
He also needs to have someone measure his measuring board, I almost forgot that.
I am going to pass all this info on. Thanks fellas! Hahaha now that is funny. How many pixels are there on a measuring board?

I'd say over 8 pounds but less than 9.

Drop shoting in Arizona. Feel free to guess the weight they had no scale. Could be spawned out, but the fish doesn't look bad, especially if its one of mine.... Where in Arizona? Anywhere near Phoenix? If so..... You'll have to kill the fish, dissect out the otolith (part of the inner ear) from one side. Once you've got the otolith, you will need to make a cross section of it with a fine (like a jeweler's) saw. Then you put the cross section under a dissection scope with UV lighting. if there is a glowing, yellow ring there, that fish came from my hatchery. I sent a large load of bass fingerlings there many years ago to restock the irrigation system, lakes and ponds, around Phoenix after the fish had been hit by golden algae. Maybe that's one of them....
