More detail on a variation of the Near Deere Fishing Fly - a productive fishing fly tied on a small jig. This one uses Olive Marabou for the tail and Brown Flash Chenille for the body. Simple pattern that is a consistent producer of Trout as well as other fish in our area! Today's Video.

Decided to fish Plano East Senior High School this evening. Caught two Catfish and three Bluegill fishing a Near Deere under a strike indicator. Fun stuff.... Today's Video.

Fished Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma on Saturday. Used a Five Weight Fly Rod/Reel and fished a Tandem Rigged Near Deere and trailing Prince Nymph. Worked several pools and runs along Spillway Creek.

Hooked a couple of Trout but lost them shortly after when they threw the fishing fly. Also, hooked and landed two nice Rainbow Trout - 18" and 15.5" trout that put up a great fight (as well as a great dinner Saturday evening - see Grilled Plank Recipe).

Fish went for the Prince Nymph but suspect a GRHEN would have worked as well as others were hooking up using them! Tied Near Deere and COAF Griffith's Gnats for the trip; skipped the GRHENs. Next time bring GRHENs.

Used the Near Deere yesterday at a local pond; had fun catching little Bass and Bluegill/Sunfish.Had a fun time. Even got some underwater video of fish lurking in the area we fished! Yesterday's Video.

Overall, had a great time "working hard" to get a limit on the fly on the Blue River yesterday! Caught one on an Olive Near Deere, another with Pink, and then four with White! Saturday's Video.

Tied a couple of Pink Near Deere in preparation for the next round. Hope they work as good as last time... Today's Picture.

Quick trip to Bethany for some Switch Rod casting practice. Managed three Bass that went for a White Near Deere this round. Similar to the "swing the rod slowly retrieve" that worked on the trout at Waterloo in Denison and at Frisco Commons, it worked on the Bass at Bethany as well! Fun stuff! Today's Video.
