Looks different from the Whites that I have been catching, she had a small mouth like a Black Crappie. Anyways went back to that North Texas lake and caught a few more 2's on Belinda's Purple Passion. #75 was a 2.51.

I would say the first one is a Black Crappie. I count 7 spines on the dorsal fin. The second is a White Crappie due the vertical lines on it's body. Black Crappie have 7 to 8 spines on the upper fin. Side Note: Nice Slabs.

I would vote for black crappie, but if it is possible, it looks like a cross between a white and black crappie. Very dark like a black crappie, yet has the specks in vertical lines like a white. Beautiful and healthy looking either way! Way to go!

It's a cross between a white and a black. I have noticed that usually the post of people catching huge 3-4 pound fish have this pattern. Those hybrids get big! The biggest fish I have ever seen had that pattern as well.

Hybrid crappie do get big. Have some in a farm pond and they're on the 4th year, have caught multiple 16-17" slabs this year alone.
