I like it! Good luck with the new direction and I am sure people will grow to love it. You could even focus on one lake per month. Do 2 episodes on the same water in different spots. Just an idea.

Of course it should be. Making the show ain't free. Someone has to pay the bills. The show has been done on a shoestring budget for many years and I applaud their efforts for doing so.

I wish them continued success and many more years on the air.

Yes, the 26 weeks will be every other week for the entire year. It's the primary reason we are headed back to FOX as they allow us to shoot a show and deliver it every other week. So you'll have a new show the first week of January and then the third week of January and so on for the year. The shows will also re-air on the same offset for Root Sports Southwest.

Thanks for the update Mark. Is there any way you can alert us to the various channels the show will be aired on starting in January?

Go ahead kill the Golden Goose. It was great while it lasted. Like no other fishing show. Thanks Mark for the memories.

Yes, we will be launching a new website mid december and it will have the full schedule. I'll also post it here.

Wow, really? Some of the posts to this thread remind me why I prefer to not interact with other human beings.

Good and bad news.
I can drop WFN pay and get it on Fox.
I'll miss the weekly broadcast

Mark, sounds like some guys that are bitching would be interested in donating to production, travel, equipment costs and expenses. Somebody needs to feed that Golden Goose. Feed isn't cheap and I bet these complainers would be more than willing to chip in!

Thanks in advance boys!

It's JM's fault. He is killing Ranger, Cabela's, and now HH!

I learned of this show a few years ago and have enjoyed it since. I was sad to see it leave FSSW and am happy to see it returning. While I live in Iowa, I do make annual trips to Texas, usually Lake Fork, but find the information presented very helpful. I truly like the concept of going fishing for one day and showing the viewers what happened. It's real. So many shows tape for a week to get 23 minutes of content. As long as this show is on somewhere, I plan to watch.

To those who are complaining we certainly understand that change isn't always fun and harder for some to handle than others. As I've mentioned in the past we had several goals for HH when we purchased it.

First and foremost was to make the show profitable. We didn't purchase the show for charity purposes and the model has to be profitable for the show to continue. I don't think Randall Boyd gets enough credit for what he did to keep the show on the air from 2004 until he sold the show to us. He should be mentioned with the same appreciation as Jerry Dean in my opinion because without Randall Boyd the show simply wouldn't exist today. Period.

Our second goal was to vastly improve the production value and the way Dirk captures content, edits that content and delivers it to the networks and our social channels. This has been a major part of our focus the last three years and is one of the primary drivers for the shows growth and success since we took over. This wasn't cheap and it's still a work in progress.

Finally we understand that for the show to evolve and ultimately survive, that we have to focus on growing our social channels, online viewership, respond to a larger mobile audience viewing the show and reach a younger audience where possible. We have and will continue to push here and address these changes which affect how content is consumed and where. Long gone are the days where we can just rely solely on a viewer kicking back in his recliner on Saturday or Sunday morning and watching the show.

My last comment is related to Bill/Dirk. I don't think anyone here who's complaining really understands what it takes for those two cats to go out each week and produce the show. I'm simply amazed that they've been able to do it this long. We had some long conversations over barbecue at Hard 8 about this decision and what it would mean to the show. Ultimately it will mean better focus and output for Bill/Dirk and less of them having to run out and cram in a show just because one is due to the network.

I asked the guys at lunch one day "why the 52 weeks?" The answer was,"that's what we've always done." I've learned enough in my years in business that when you answer a question with "that's what we've always done" then you might want to take a hard look at that decision and see what if anything can be improved/changed.

I'm confident that the final output for our viewers will be better shows with more education and that's what it's all about.
