Jerkbaits and Lipless cranks. Am I going to lose any action or catch-ability by using one? Any comments or suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks.

Joey, I've used them on traps and jerbaits with good results. The only issue I have had is on grassy lakes, the speed clip likes to catch grass.

I just bought some, and I plan to use them. I like the idea of being able to get in and out of a color or size quickly. I can tie a knot as well as the next guy, but to claim there's a major difference between tying on directly, and using a clip is just folly. Otherwise none of these companies would be adding a split ring (oval or round). The clip acts about like an oval split ring.
Also, mess up with a knot, catch it on the sharp part of the split ring once or twice, and watch a $10 crank bait go flying, and that clip ain't quite so uncool....

That's great that you commented on this buda13. I finished second to you in one of the TX 3 Bass tournaments a few years ago and you said you were using a jerk bait to catch your fish. Since then I've been trying to throw them and fish with confidence. Maybe this will be the year. Thanks for the help!

Anytime Joey! The directions on the speed clip say to take the split ring off and hook directly to the bait... I've always just hooked to the split ring, seems like it gives the jerkbait a little more action and haven't noticed a difference in action either way on crankbaits or traps. Good luck!

KVD uses them on his jerk baits....at least he did in 1996 when I trudged through 10 feet of dirty diapers and used needles to retrieve this one after he broke it off on a laydown tree in the MegaBucks tournament on White Rock Lake.

Now that's something I haven't heard in a long, long time! Megabucks on White Rock Lake. I was there too!
