Hiya Texans! I'm been enjoying this fine site for a while now, and thought I'd join up and introduce myself.. I'm 52 and live in upstate NY.. Like most of you, I live for the outdoors, and I fish both fresh and saltwater..build my own rods, and I fish for everything from Bluegills, to Steelhead, to Tuna.. and everything in between.. Our Catfishing is limited to small to medium sized Channel cats.. but I love chasing big Blues and Flatheads when I get a chance..which is usually in the form of winter trips to the Santee-Cooper lakes in SC.. I'm currently visiting my Sister who lives here in Frisco, and I'd love to get out and take a crack at the cats in Lewisville, Lavon or one of the other lakes in the area.. I drove down, so I'm packing plenty of tackle..but I left the boat home... In past trips down here, I've rented a boat at Fork.. which is still an option.. but I was really looking forward to targeting Blues in some of the other lakes this trip.. so.. I'd greatly appreciate any tips y'all may be able to provide in regard to stuff like a reasonably priced boat rental, good shore spots, places where I could drop the net on some bait, etc.. I also see that some of the guides offer "open" seats on charters.. I would love to jump on one of those trips.. I'll be here through the 1st, and am available to fish any day except Thankgiving, and Dec 1st(Sis's birthday) ..so any guides with an opening , please shoot me a PM.. . anyway.. sorry for the long post, and I thank you all for providing such a helpful resource with this site, and for any future assistance!

oak grove park On Lake Grapevine has plenty of bank space Fishing is hit or miss but 30-40 lbs blues have been caught everywhere in park at one time or another. May be able to net shad still around sandbags point in oak grive park but most will hit a Fiesta Food Mart or Asian grocery for buffalo as backup or alternate bait.

Thanks for all your kind replies.. I feel like I should apologise to y'all.. My luck on road trips has never been great.. I seem to be afflicted with chronic "ya shoulda been here yesterday" syndrome.. I've been known to shut down bites for 2 days on either end of my visit.. but this is the 1st time I've flooded out an entire state.. I'm heading back home tomorrow, so things should return to normal for you soon.. I'll try again next visit.. maybe I'll pull down a boat.. but I promise to give you all advance warning so you can move to higher ground
