I am thinking of staying at the Fin & Feather one night in mid December (during the week). Any fishing advice for that area is appreciated as this will be my first time there. I am planning to meet my son on his way home from college. Thank you in advance for your help.

I am planning to meet my son on his way home from college. Thank you in advance for your help. Contact Tom Sistrunk, the owner of fin n' feather or the man in my signature (guide) Darold Gleason. He can/will hook you up with some fish. Tom also has the last name of the other guide that works out of (not for) name David. He is a pro on catching Crappie. Fin n' Feather contact info in my signature as well...Hope this helps God Bless

The other guide working out of Fin and Feather is David Truax. Very good fisherman and he knows the Housen Bay area very well.

Jaret...........your fishing reports are no doubt the most informative for both Rayburn and Toledo !!
Pin that report right now!!!
I really enjoy reading them. Have you thought about posting them on face book or other websites.....lol.

I like Jaret's reports. Makes it easy. I only have to carry a few of one lure and a couple rods and some refreshments!

If someone has a more consistent pattern on Toledo in December for a first timer, by all means share.....

I thought his report was accurate for when Toledo has grass.

I'm on Palo Gaucho so don't know if this will work on Housen but I think it'll be good most every where. Senko's fished shallow and jigs with craw worm fished shallow out to 8-10 feet. Fish both sides of every point you see in Housen ! No grass here either.
Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

As mentioned, rattle trap and jig will work along with Carolina rigged lizard. The north side of Housen near the open lake is a "community hole" where lots of bass are caught year round. It is a large grass flat with major creeks so you have a variety of depths to fish. Only down side is a strong north or ne wind makes it tough to fish.
You can fish in Hurricane creek and usually find some bass year round also. Lots of timber and points....good area. Neither of these are secret spots....very well known for years. Something to try close by anyway.
Too many places to list but as Lee stated, talk with F&F owner and get some updated info.
