I sure hope people from both sides of the argument show up and have their voices heard!
I think you will see this more and more as catfishing is gaining tremendous popularity!
Hope I can make it!

I'm gonna miss her....

Interesting -
No minimum?
And only 2 fish over 30 Inches-
That would make for some different weigh ins-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

2 fish over 30", sensible...
5 fish in slot of 20" to 30" , dumb.
No min length, useless...

Restricted blue catfish harvest to channel catfish sizes in exchange for a theoretical 14% increase of blue catfish 30+ inch population is DUMBER, lol.

Hmmm... 5 catfish in 4-8 lbs vs 5 stripers or hybrids in the same range plus 25 white bass, hmmm... I'd just set juglines and goes for the two 30" blue catfish then go fish for stripers and other scaly fish... or I'd hire stripers guides and catch five blue catfish as a by products, lol... No wonder Matt Cartwright is supporting this plan thumb

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

Ps, I know the meeting is just going through the motion as they always do, so I don't plan to be there.... I'll wait and see how many catfish guides will turn to stripers guide full time to support their family and I'm hoping the two Tawakoni biologists will lose their jobs for tinkering with Texas "premier" bluecatfish lake and turning blue catfishing into second fiddling of juglines fishing... viva scaly fish here I come, oh wait I don't have a boat, dang it! LMAO

I don't think they are trying to cater to the guides. They are trying to preserve the "trophy size" fish. It's the sport of catching "trophy size" catfish that had really taken off. Besides, as you mentioned 5 catfish from 4-8 pounds is an ample amount of fish not including the two over 30 and the 18 other small ones you could keep. This is PER PERSON. You say the no minimum length is useless? Tpwd explains this by stating the majority of fish sampled are less than 20 inches in length..m.there are plenty of tx lakes that have a no minimum length on catfish. That's why they are the biologist, let them do their job!

Lol, "catfish guides turn into Striper guides to support their family."

That will never happen on ole' Twok. thumb

There is and always will be enough demand to hire catfish guides on Twok.

Don't think your multi boats ops would float without dollars from scaly fish trips. Congrats you get what you wish, but see people who harvest blue catfish to eat and frankly I think your catfish guide business will hurt too. I am sure you will depend on scaly trips more in the future. Finally don't think this regulations will help increase big cats sizes and number. ... This is a zero sum game in many ways... a lot of things are at stake, this is not the end of this battle. I for one don't support this new regulations... I will start targeting big cats from now on to fill my cooler on every trip and hope other people will do too...... all within the laws... THIS IS A ZERO SUM GAME.

Smoky I saw their reply... currently Twok blues are ALREADY predominantly under 20", but they want to increase number of big spawners in the lake add millions more eggs every season..???.. bag limit is still 25, catch dinks all you want, and you think people would drive more than an hour for 8 inch catfish... Min. Or no min, make no difference vis a vis the 5 fish limit in slot b 20-30 inches

Did my eye sight leave me, I haven't read or heard anything about there being no Mim. lenght limit change, Thought it would stand as it has always been.

Most people don't book trips on Tawakoni to fill their freezers. Most people want the experience of catching a trophy sized blue. 90% of the people are happy with catching a few trophy blues and about 10 eaters. So to answer your question...I KNOW people will still travel an hour to come fish tawakoni. I don't see why your so opposed to the new regulation, give it some time and see what happens. But saying you are going to target big fish on purpose seems to me like your just trying to stir the pot. Never in a million years would you hear a bass fisherman say he's going to try an target/keep all the big fish he can because TPWD passed a slot to try and better the future of a lake! Most people don't like the bass boys but they've done a great job in protecting their sport/fish. Now it's time to take catfishing from backwoods to mainstream (no pun intended) flag

I'm gonna miss her....
