They are trying to please all fishermen, and manage the resource. Minimum will have no bearing on the population, very few people keep a catfish under 10 inches.

We do not get to fish Tawakini more than once or twice a year. Me and Sam will continue with our self imposed regulations on this lake, we have never kept a fish of any size from this lake or any lake in Texas for that matter.

We catch plenty of eaters from our local lakes and rivers and do not keep any fish over 10 lbs.. When we come to Texas we are fun fishing hoping to hook on to one of these roflmao.

Was there any discussion about the regulations in place on Waco, Lewisville and Richland Chambers for the past 6 or 7 years? (For Blues, Slot of 30" -45" and you can keep one over fish, and a limit of Blues under the 30".) Population of both Eaters and Trophy fish on RC appears to have gone up dramatically based on fishing the Lake for past 20 years. May just be that we have no fishing pressure on RC and jug lining is not near as prevalent as it used to be before Slot? Easy box of Eaters about anytime of the year!

Dinks. Looks like Twok might be heading that way...

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

2 fish over 30" per an angler per a day can still do a lot of damage. I have seen a pontoon boat out there with 7 people in it running hundreds of juglines. I could hardly get by because it looked like they "mined" the lake.

I personally think a Texoma style regulation would be better. This proposed regulation seems a little complicated.

Your asking an opinion question. I was there so here goes. IMHO, TPWD really did their homework and made a solid argument for the proposed changes. Their PowerPoint presentation was detailed and included the backup data. I think all fishing disciplines were represented in the audience from Noodlers to trotliners to etc. Surprising to me was the lack of resistance in the room. In my few conversations after the meeting, the attitude about the proposal seemed pretty positive. With a sense of humor I await the coming contradictions. roflmao

Meeting overall was good. As mentioned above lots of solid data giving reason to the whys and how's of what they are doing.

Was good to see the 6 Game Wardens there as well plus the director of fisheries Mr. Terry from Austin.

We will see how things go though...takes a long time to turn around a big ship. Also, as soon as it's released there should be a recording audio or video of the meeting so everyone who didn't attend can listen or watch.

It was pretty cold that day and I had a serious case of hat head from being under a knit cap all day. I left my scale at home and I was greatful to find the Salsa's to weigh my fish and take a photo.

At any rate, I don't think the parties involved care about the hook regulation. Besides...that is probably 100 per an angler. I hope they will have adequate game warden presence to enforce whatever law they adopt.
