Summer time you want a trailer with some movement and winter not so much. So I was wondering what is your winter jig trailer ?

Thanks,

Just stick with my normal trailers

I have always heard plastic trailer in warmer months and pork trailers in the winter. Uncle Josh's pork products are the only ones I am aware of.

I've heard the same, but I still use the Rage Craw year round. Unless I'm swimming jigs, then I like a Zoom Fluke swim tail.

When the water drops below 50 degrees, you can start using pork trailers some people use them all year long. I have learned that most of the time you will have to experiment to see if the fish will eat the pork or plastic. The Zoom super chunk jr. is my all time favorite but there are others that will produce too. The main key is to slow down when you think that you are moving your bait slow then slow down some more. stick with basic color patterns for the start you should find one that works it will usually work on several lakes in the area. good luck and remember to slow down your retrieve speed.

LFT pig claw, the big one when I want a slow fall with very little movement, otherwise I use the same ones all year long. I don't use pork any more. I used to many years ago and did not see any advantage to using it over plastic trailers, actually I did not like it as well because of the way it dries out.

I have had good luck with this trailer in the winter as well. When fishing rip-rap the wide body of this trailer doesn't allow the jig to fall in the cracks as bad, therefore you can fish it much slower without getting hung-up as much.

Zoom or Yamamoto Twin tail for me but 007 is spot on about the LFT wide body and rocks.

Reins Punching Predator

I thread one of these on the back of my jig during the Winter. It has a subtle action and the round pinchers at the end float up really well when the jig is at rest. I don't cut any off either, I leave it as it is so I can bulk up the profile a little bit. Green pumpkin and black/blue are all that I use because everything in the water during Winter is dead and dull.

I like the LFT Pig Claw during the coldest water months, I also like the Talon Goby for slow dragging a football jig.
