Bert, D.L., and I sat down at a table at Angler's and talked and watched Bert rig one up. Pretty cool with Snell knots, beads, etc., and a lot of science behind it . . . there is a method to the madness as they say. D.L. has also fished for walleye and has experience fishing up north for walleye and other species.

Windy today but it is going to be dead tomorrow showing 1 MPH down as close as I could get to Wheeler Branch/Squaw Creek on the Windfinder page. Temps 33 degrees around 6 AM up to 41 degrees at 9 AM.

Sounds good enough for me though with forecasted clear skies, the cold front passing through and no wind, fishing might be a little tough.

I'll either end up at Squaw Creek and bank fish or Wheeler Branch and use the kayak!

If anyone has Wheeler kayaking plans for tomorrow, let me know. That may swing my vote.

It was good meeting Brad and Bert yesterday, and with the howling winds and cold temps, great day to be inside a APT and see how Bert ties his walleye rigs. Great tips!...and thank-you APT for the space to gather for this. (Think APT appreciated our purchases, too - pretty sure I won that competition, hands down!) Looking forward to a group "team-up" at Wheeler Branch to chase walleye. I'm especially interested in trying out the slow death rig. Did you bank fish or do Wheeler Branch today? I joined a co-worker and had fun fishing an overflowing creek below a waterfall accessed via private property (with permission of course), and caught quite the variety; LM bass, sand bass, hybrid stripers, crappie, and even a smallmouth buffalo, my first ever!

The mean air temperatures are going to be cooperative for bringing down the water temp over the next 10 days. I would like to shoot for an outing on the 5th or 6th or both if they are cooperating, who is available?

Just a reminder the Mariner sails Christmas party is the 5th and I plan to attend that so I will be knocking off early to attend, if the fish are biting I am going slimy.

Forgot to mention, post up if you need me to bring you walleye rigs so I can be sure to have enough made up and with me.

And, you mentioned these, but I failed to write down the details, what are your sources for beads, proper hooks, blades, clevis hardware, sinkers, etc.?

I will bring worms and minnows for bait as well as some gulp leaches, minnows and worms.

Blades and Clevis I get at Barlow's they are a few blocks from work, Indiana or French blade sizes 0-4 and clevis size 1 and 2

Sinker slides, I buy them on EBAY I usually change them out to a size 2 clip to keep snags down. Same with the walking weights and drop shot weights I use.

Bert, my schedule got "flipped." My wife called last night, said I was now to meet her out at Athens on Sunday. Saturday works, though.

I'll be in my kayak and it looks like Saturday is my only "go" date owing to my wife's change of plans.

I want to try a very slow reverse troll, or at least be able to control my float really well.

I'll have my canoe out this spring time when I am fishing shallow in low wind conditions.
