A buddy and I just had some time to fish yesterday evening. We decided with the water temp falling that the bass may be moving into the major creeks. So, we went into one of the major feeders on Joe Pool and probably went into the creek maybe 300 yards fishing both sides and the middle pretty hard. We did not get a sniff. Using Spinnerbaits, shakeyheads, Cranks, jigs. Water temp was 63 deg.

On a side note. another boat followed us in and took a small cut into and big open flat adjacent to the creek and caught a 7 and a few small ones.

Any ideas on water temp/weather and migration into the creeks?

They must have left 5 weeks ago then. Saw the occasional shad flick there and there but not like the creek was loaded.

The fish in Lew have been up the arms for at least a few weeks now.

I've caught all my overs the past few weeks on rock and flooded weeds in the main lake. No channels. Not even a bite in a creek channel yet. Fish it pretty regularly too.

right. I can catch a BUNCH of dinks on a red eye. But, the larger fish have been on jigs and drop shot.

The fish were in the backs of creeks about 3-4 weeks ago at my lake. A major cold front came in seems like it pushed them out to main lake points.

A good rule of thumb for bass fishing is There Are No Rules.

Just about the time I think I have them pretty well figured out I find out I don't.

I believe there is a good percentage of fish that live out on the main lake and never go into the backs of the creeks, even to spawn. Found this to be true at Fork many times. I would catch 8 or 9 good ones in the far back of a major creek pitching a jig and think I had set the world ablaze only to find out that a guide buddy of mine killed them on a mainlake spot in 35' of water on a jigging spoon.

Keep an open mind. You'll do fine.

Many of the people you encounter on the net offering "advice" are not the anglers they want the general public to think they are, so they simply regurgitate information they themselves have read on the net. It's comical at the least.

Trust what Ken says, he has been a great angler for many, many years and is giving you the right advice. There are no set rules when trying to locate and catch bass.

Let's just say I've eliminated a lot of unproductive water over the years... LOL
