Does anybody have an opinion about this unit? How it compares to the bird and lowrance one in its same class? Bass pro is having a Black Friday sale on it and I do not have any side scan on the boat and am very intrigued by the price. I am scouring reviews on the internet about it and would like to hear you, the pros, thoughts about it. Thanks for any feedback!!

$500 is a helluva price for a thousand dollar unit. I've got the 73dv (no sidevu) and love it. Easy to use, quick disconnect, great mapping, and smooth gps.

Went to bass pro today. They said they would have 3 at that price. I don't understand why they wouldn't have 100 plus. Talked to the garmin rep while I was there and they are a nice finder for sure.

3? Really? That's just crazy. I think Cabelas has it for $799. Maybe they'll be a cheaper sale somewhere coming up

Thanks for all the help guys. Sounds like a great unit! If I can't get one this go round, may get one another time down the line.

Typical Black Friday. They are trying to draw you in and hope you buy something they have a higher margin on.

you will love the garmin. I have had a lowrance and a HB and finally bought a garmin and will never go back to the others. That is a great price. Check with cabela's that might price match.

I bought one online at Cabela's today for $499. Might be today only. Still had to pay sales tax, but shipping is free. I guess they want to beat BPS to the punch!

"Garmin disagrees with the ITC and plans to appeal the determination," said Andrew Etkind, Garmin vice president and general counsel. "Nevertheless, we do not expect the ruling to have any impact on Garmin customers or products. Garmin has already modified our software to address the ITC's ruling, and we are ready to ship those products today. The ruling will have no impact on Garmin products already purchased by our customers and dealers, or any products purchased going forward." Garmin SideV scanning sonar products are available now with the redesigned software. While the redesign does address the ITC's findings, end-users and dealers will not notice a change to installation or compatibility with existing Garmin products or accessories. No action is necessary for dealers with existing inventory. The orders will go into effect pending the mandatory review by the U.S. trade representative and Garmin can continue selling products until the mandatory review.
