me and a buddy are heading to twok this weekend. both of our first time on the lake but have been wanting to see what all the hype is about lol. Any tips for this lake? we only catch and release we are all about the rush and letting them go to fight another day. I know it's getting tougher finding shad now that it's getting cooler any tips on this would be awesome as well. not looking for honey holes just a bit of tips for a first timer on that lake.

thanks guys good luck out there.

Stay on the south end and fish main lake for now. If you have never run Twok before just drive very careful. With the lake at close to full pool or a little over it can be extremely dangerous if you don't know where the trees are. It's dangerous even if you do know where the trees are. There are a lot of trees that are just a foot or two under. I would recomend using Navionics/Lakemaster on your fishfinder or buy a good map that shows you the hazard areas and heavily treed areas. Wear life jackets if running high speed and have your buddy keep his eyes on the water to alert you if he sees anything while you are driving. The big blues and bait could be anywhere in that area. Hope yall catch some. cheers

What prime said...
Lake is above pool , creeks are running as we had 2 plus inches yesterday and stuff is floating... Good news is catfish are biting... We had jugs out late last week and got enough to feed 9 Friday in 10-14 FOW, released three over 10 pounds, using weenies.
Had a good report late last week in the trees just northwest of wind point on chicken breast in 16 FOW from a neighbor, said they released one 40 plus and kept 12 under 5 pounds
Get a map, be wary of points, and don't follow someone you don't know. I have seen people take paths on this lake when it was full that I would never take. Shad will be tough, bring some carp, buffalo, chicken breast just in case. Did have a buddy crappie fishing the east end of 2 mile and caught shad when he left on the pillars last week
Go get um, duck hunters were out this morning on the north side...

I am far from a trophy catfisherman, so, no expert advice.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

It would be fun, that's for sure. Lake Arrowhead got nasty a few times when I was on it. The last time the guys with me wanted to go to shore and wait it out. I think there was more water running out the drains on the deck than we were floating on. I had a trip to Twok planned for Sat and Sun, but I have decided to delay until Tue-Wed.
