I'm considering fishing a few tourneys next year and am wondering about big bass tourneys. I assume that because they don't have resources for judges to officially weigh a bass on the water, if you catch one you want weighed you have to go to the scale site and weigh it, leaving your potential hotspot open for someone else? Specifically I'm wondering about Basschamps Mega Bass and their other tourneys. Do they have official weigh in sites all over the lake or do you have to drive to the marina everytime you think you have a bass of the hour?

You share the water. Once you leave the spot it is open for all. One location to weigh in. If you plan on fishing these big bass tournaments you need to enter knowing that your secret hot spot is not a secret anymore if it ever was to start with. Keep a good attitude and enjoy the day.

You can typically have 3 bass in your possession. However, on Fork you can only have one over. Once you weigh that fish, and maybe fill out the paperwork to get paid, it's back to fishing or back in line with the next one (you can only weigh one an hour).

Some are 3 bass and some are 5 bass in possession. There is a designated launch, trailering (if permitted) and weigh-in/launch times depending on what series and lake. Prior to the tournament the Director will give his phone number out for emergencies or if you may have a SAL you can give them a call. No spot is a secret unless you stay on it.

I was only being facetious about my "hotspot". I just hate to give up a spot that may be producing to go weigh in but if that me what you have to do then so be it. I was kind of curious if that was the name of the game.
So if you can only possess 1 over on Fork then in a big bass tourney a 3 fish limit really does you no good. Or is a 3 fish limit mean you can only weigh 3 fish for the entire tourney?

unders win hours all the time

if you could keep 3 in the box you could put a couple fat unders in there, then if you catch an over you can run in and if someone already weighed an over bigger than yours maybe you weigh one of your big unders and get a check. save your over for another hour

I didn't see anything on unders with the particular tournament I was looking at but that's not to say it isn't the case especially on a slot lake. And I guess it makes sense, weigh in the biggest legal fish you have....an over is not guaranteed to be caught in a tourney
