When I was in the USAF I was an instructor teaching B-52G/H crew chiefs. It always amazed me to be able to take a young man or woman who didn't know what tools were and in six weeks turn them loose as assistant crew chiefs on the worlds biggest bomber. I know a lot of civilian kids I wouldn't want changing my oil. Would you have ever guessed your son would be running a Nuke reactor on a submarine? A kid my son went to school with is going to be flying F-35's. The military does a great job of teaching our young ones responsibility. 18 to 22 yr. old's do most of the work in the military. I proud of all of them.

One of the many reasons I think the military draft should be reinstated. So many young men and women out there that need to learn a trade, responsibility and most of all "self respect". We're having to pay for their welfare checks, so make them earn their money for a few years. Anyway, I'll step off my soapbox. Very nice thread and my respects to those who opted to take a few years out of their lives to serve and honor their country.

Thank you all for sharing such great pictures of your kids serving and for raising them in a way where they value that. Without their service we wouldn't be a country. Please tell them each thank you regularly.

I get to follow my kiddo around on Face book. I think that it's pretty cool. He is the one closest to the camera.
