I hate tying jig and spinnerbait skirts on so I came up with this idea five years ago and bass haven't minded it one bit. Plastic wire ties. Bet you can't see the plastic tie... I also add a wire L lock (arrow points to it) to keep my trailers up tight on the hook. (See my suggestion in the crappie forum).)

This is a great idea. The skirts that use the rubber bands eventually desecrate. Those black uv ties should last forever.

... The skirts that use the rubber bands eventually disintegrate. Those black uv ties should last forever. Tried this on a few jigs two summers ago. If they lay out in the hot Texas sun eventually the plastic tie hardens and cracks. Still works great just keep an eye on the tie and when it begins to color fade replace it. So far the best skirt tie I've found is Ultra Wire with a coating of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails over the wire. The wire (TSWB100) is available at BPS in the Fly Shop and the nail hardener at Wally World. Takes a little time to get the wrap down but once you get the hang of it it's easy.

here's a cheater way to wire tie. put the skirt on with a rubber collar first.position the skirt the way you want it to be. then take the wire and make your tie. when it's on snip the rubber skirt off and make sure the wire is tight.

Even more tricky....just roll the twisted end of the wire down and put the rubber skirt band over the wire
