Alright well I guess I'll be going to one of those places. I've never fished for these stocker trout. Would you recommend salmon eggs or what?

recommend you check out fshng84 website regarding stocker troutfishing
http://stockertroutfishing.com
I've never tried salmon egg but they should work. I've had success with super dupers silver and gold or copper 501 size. small white spinners, power bait, flies, I only used the Carey Thorn neere deer so far. (if you don't have a fly rod you can put them under a bobber)I've seen people catching trout on marshmallow, corn, power bait worms.
It gets crowded during derby suggest wait until after derby if you don't have kids , still plenty of fish left to fish. I find the day after the release the best time to go because the fish are hungry

Made it to Towne Lake this morning in McKinney. Took a little but found the pattern and started catching them. Did not keep any but should have. Planned to limit out at Prosper; managed to catch two after the Trout Derby and lose two others. Else, it was a tough go for fishing flies! Powerbait was doing well though! Working on the video. Will post later.

Video is posted. Key for Towne Lake was the retrieve - 10 count to sink the fishing fly, long pull on the fly line every 2-4 seconds. Video.

I live in Collin County and started fishing during the summer of last year. Recently, I've been going to different ponds where the rainbow trout have been stocked. These are the places I've been to so far: Bethany, Frisco Commons, Towne Lake, Murphy City Hall, Frontier Park.

As a heads up, I'm still very much in the novice/beginner stages of fishing overall. So with all that being said, my first question is (I'll have more), after how many days (on average) does it take for all of the rainbow trout to be gone or for the bite to be considerably rare and few in between? I thought I'd ask the question here.

I've been reading around, and at some places, the presence of those birds that swim in the water and dunk themselves in seem to really make a difference. I know that each place is different, and there's other factors to take into consideration such as weather and how many/often they're stocked, but from your guys' experience, for each of the places above, when would you say they're usually all gone?

I wasn't sure if it was still worthwhile to keep going for rainbow trout at a certain place after 2 weeks it's been stocked.

I don't know much about trout, but I do know they like cooler water. The stocking is almost over for the year, so the fishing is starting to slow down, at least I'd assume. I've fished Bethany a couple days after a stocking, and it gets hit very hard.

Check the parks and wildlife website, it shows dates, amounts, and locations of stockings. If anything, just go wet a line. There is no better way to see how good the fishing is then to fish it.

My son and I fished the Prosper Derby this Saturday, and boy was it packed lol. Almost shoulder to shoulder. I...err...he caught two 10"ers (rainbows) in about an hour on night crawlers under a bobber. Seemed like many people were catching them.

The dude abides...

I have caught them on a Sunday after a Tuesday stock, but that is the latest I have tried and they seem pretty thinned out by then.

Looks like there are a few more chances for Trout this month for some folks. Starting to shift to warm water fishing. That said, we finally completed a magazine - Stocker Trout Fishing Magazine, that we have been playing around with for some time. Maybe we can get another one out before the next Trout Season starts! Only one in print, working on an online version so Readers can access it. smile

Season is nearing an end... one more trip to Waterloo for Rainbow Trout. Was able to limit out before the wind kicked up. Left them biting but had to work hard for the last one. Today's Video.

Bitter sweet to have the season end. Its fun chasing the trout and I look forward to taking the kids, but it means that the busy season for all the other fish is about to begin. Longer days ahead!

Been a tough go but got the online preview working; works only on desktops but it's a start. Preview Next step is to get it to work on mobile apps.
