So I'm taking my grandad to Lake Palestine this weekend. We used to fish there a lot when I was young and wreck the box fish. On the north end of the lake in the timber. Which I intend to take him back to. My question is this, there's a campground up there with a boat ramp but I can't remember the name of it. I'd like to call them and see if they have cabins or somethin, if not what would the closest hotel be, maybe in Chandler? Anyway, any help with that would be appreciated. Also, I haven't been there in years, any tips on where to catch some bait would be awesome too. Thanks!

From 31, go south on 2661...a few miles down on west side take 1110...that takes u down to the campground and ramp right on the powerlines...which is the area u want to fish.
The name of the camp illudes me, lol but I've fished out of there several times.

It's called Westberry Landing. 4 miles past the railroad tracks on 2661. Will be on your right side as you are headed south. Not a big sign and easy to miss as it's a small road that leads down to the ramp. Not real sure about the camping facilities though.
Another good option with excellent camping, ramp, grocery store, and restaurant all in one location is more mid-lake at Lake Palestine Resort/Campground. It's off of Hwy 155 and is in a protected cove called Highsaw/Ledbetter. Cabins for rent as well as camp sites. Cleaning station which you wont have at Westberry. Not trying to talk you out of the north end as it's good fishing especially with the lake being a little high, just trying to give you a couple of options.

I spoke with James at Westberry Landing, there's a hotel about 10 mins from them he got me the name for. They have a fish cleaning station. No idea on shad though. Guess I'll just use my anglers intuition lol. Or take it with me. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Go to lake palestine marina, that north end us slap full of just underwater timber with all this rain. There will be lodging on the lake at lake palestine marina and shad around the boat docks, youll ruin a net on the north end in a hurry. Good fish on the main river chanel or drifting thd mouth of saline bay back towards 155 bridge.

Put in at Westberry at the north end. Wind wouldn't allow me on the lake Saturday so I put in on the Nueces and didn't do very well. Caught Shad Saturday night and caught a box full of eaters Sunday morning out of Westberry and one toad. Knockin' on 30. Didn't do as well as I'd hoped but was good for my grand dad and I.
