Had a blast fishing for tilapia at Squaw Creek not too long ago, caught 77 in a couple hours, the cloudy weather shut them off but still caught a few.

Great vid.. Those were some serious tilapia. What were they biting on? I have heard that they can be pretty picky eaters.

These tilapia were not picky at all. Simple Bobber, split shot, and earthworm. cheers

I bank fish 90 percent of the time. coolio I catch Tilapia a lot from the bank. You need to find areas that support them.(Places with mild winters). Small rivers with good current and warm water lakes. Water bodies that are spring fed also usually hold nice Tilapia. I have caught all of my Tilapia using worms. They love staging by grass beds and shallow drop offs. Great fighters on ultra light. They are also super good eating! thumb

I'm going to go to Squaw Creek Saturday and mess around. Hopefully, they cooperate despite the cold front coming through.

Not sure how they act on the transitions, but If I remember correctly, a friend who lives next to squaw, a "tilapia expert" said that the colder it is the better they will bite. Dont quote me on that but I'm almost sure that is the case.

Tilapia will usually not survive in water less than 70 degrees. They prefer water 78 to 88 degrees. Any way you guys caught some AWESOME FISH! Best of luck "79 Scooter". Hope you catch a bunch. thumb

Tilapia are part of the Cichlid family and are defiantly a warm water fish!

Sorry, I got side tracked and never got to get out there. I had everything loaded in the truck the night before, and some stuff came up. I will get out there one of these days. bang
