Hey guys, recently bought an 18ft fiberglass center console and am starting to rig it up for cat fishing this winter and was wondering what types of anchors would be suggested. I understand box anchors are widely suggested but I'm not looking to spend $100+ on an anchor. I've found some pretty cheap fluke style anchors on Craigslist and was wondering if anybody had used them? Also what weight would be suggested to hold the boat? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Check the classified on here. Several guys make and sell box anchors for around $50. I like one around 17#. Hard to beat a box anchor

He builds good box anchors for $50.00. Don't waste your money on cheap fluke anchors.

Send Vess a pm and check when he's making some up next time, Alvarado to ft worth area is only about 40 miles and you won't be dissapointed with box anchors, for a few dollars more you can get two box anchors for the price of one good digger anchor, collapsible anchors would be nice to store but the price usually doubles for those that make them

I made an 18"x18" folding box anchor that I only use when someone else is pulling anchor.

They get a free guided trip in return for pulling anchor. Unless you count all of those chiropractor bills.

Going to get a box anchor from Ian next week, might get a digger for the back anchor or vise versa
