Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a rod to only fish drop shot with. The thing is I want to use a baitcasting rod and not a spinning rod. I just want to see what some of yall would recommend. I have a couple rods in mind but id like to see what everyone thinks. My budget on a rod is between $100-200. I appreciate the help!

G. Loomis Dropshot rod This rod is a little out of your price range but I'd save a little and grab one of these. They're specifically designed for dropshotting. The DSR820S is the best baitcasting rod for dropshotting that's available. These rods are incredibly light and super sensitive. The wider cork at the foregrip of the rod is very comfortable. It's a light tip but it has plenty of backbone for a hookset. I highly recommend you give this a rod a try. It's become one of my favorites.

I use a Dobyns DX 702, Tackle warehouse had a few on sale last time I looked. They are a little over your desired price range.

I use a Cashion that is soft enough to drop shot with, yet still have a backbone to bring up a good fish. It is from their jerk bait series of bait casting rods. The trick is to have a light enough tip and rod to not over do the hook set. Nothing ever said it had to be a fixed spool type of reel setup. Bait casters can work great.

Call Ron or Jay at Reel Time Rods. They have an awesome drop shot baitcaster. Lifetime warranty and in your price range. I love mine. Do this ^^^^^^^^^^^for sure. It is ABSOLUTELY the best drop shot rod. Ron will custom make it for you. I have a Dobyns Extreme 702 and Rons drop shot rod is better. If you want the Dobyns 702, I will sell you mine. I have another one of Rons drop shot rods on order so I will have 2 on deck at all times. I also have the same rod in a spinning version to use in the summer fishing vertically in deep water. Believe me, they are the best. The tip twitches at the slightest bite and it has plenty of backbone. You will feel every bite.

If you get a drop shot rod other than one from Ron, you will be doing yourself an injustice.

I have a baitcasting rod that Ron at Reel Time Rods built for me. He is located at Pope's Landing at Lake Fork. His # is 903-450-6400. Great drop shot rod and he stands behind all of his rods. You want be sorry if you buy one.

Im telling you, the drop shot rod that Ron builds is better than the Dobyns Extreme 702. I know because I have both of them and fished them side by side.
