Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I always get skunked. I love catching and eating crappie, but I can't catch one to save my you know what. I need to start on the bathroom tile anyway. frown

I learned everything I know from Kingof(NO)fish...sorry inside joke with King! Man let me tell ya I have been targeting Crappie now for 4yrs and just the last year have I actually gotten fairly good at locating and CATCHING them! DON'T give up! It is a learning curve as for us bankers we can only really get to em in the late fall to early spring time!! I'm sure between King and I we can show you the ropes and ad to any knowledge you already have!! I will say this even the best of the fishers other than Rudy aka lovfldx get skunked!! Sometimes for a week or few at a time! I know FIRST HAND it is frustrating but Don't give up!! Send one of us a pm and we shall see what's up!!

Awww u guys give me too much credit!! Now he has high expectations of me! Lol but hey man I just teaching people how to fish. Every creek/lake is different and of course new places that I explore (along with Jason). I don't mind "trying" to put u on some fish. I usually fish during the evening times during the week when I get a chance and Sunday's (some time we go for stripers/hybrids on those days)

Thanks for the kind words and offers, having a rough day I guess. I've tried places and techniques mentioned on this forum, but the dark cloud keeps following me. lol I know it can't last forever.

I had the same issues last year. I can catch tons of crappie at my favorite spot on the trinity in ft worth. but can't keep the fish so I decided I'd try some areas mentioned on the forums to get eddible fish. I tried so many different places and didn't catch a single fish most of my trips. Only caught one keeper sized fish at the joe pool barge. I ended up throwing in the towel after my 3rd skunked trip in a row to the LL barge. But for some reason I feel optimistic about this year. Hoping to beat my record last year by catching at least 2 keepers this year

My first trip out for crappie went pretty good. 3 under sized. 2 at 9 9/2 inches. No keepers but still more fish than most my trips last year. Was at the joe pool barge. Bunch of people catching small ones.

Joe Pool is full of 9 7/8 inch crappie, If it's slow and I catch a few of those, I just put them on the bottom of the boat, step on them hard, and they stretch to 10 inches (legal size). Seems like most stop growing just short of 10 inches on that lake. taz

Head over to Bass Pro in Garland on the 5th and attend that seminar in the post by Tarponfly. Thats what I plan to do. I want to try for crappie in the creeks this winter. Might have a better chance this year since the lakes have water in them and the fish have easier access to the creeks. Either way maybe I hope to learn something.
