For decades I've jig heads far more than any other soft lure holder, but I've always wanted to find an alternative other than using barbs or super glue.






Now I order unpainted barbless jigs from Ebay, attach the craft wire shown and never have to change a soft plastic lure until I want to.

Food for thought....

(BTW, the lure shown in the top picture is my own design, poured without a mold and the best design I've ever used.)

Being mechanically challenged, how is the craft wire attached? Cut off a pre-determined length and twist?

1. Cut an inch and a half of coated wire (24 gauge is best)


2. Line up the wire on one side of the jig's line tie and put the wire's end just below the barb (for measurement sake)- this will form the L
3. Wind the other end around the line tie at its base - once around only
4. Use wire cutters and cut the wire as close as possible using needle nose pliers to compress it further around the base of the line tie
5. Make an L of the other end, making sure it's not too long for the width of the lure.

Fish are never bothered by it and the lure stays up on the jig as long as you want it to. One of the best ideas I ever had.

I also use the L lock idea on (skirted) bass jigs to keep the trailers from sliding down. You'll never guess how I attach the skirts...quickly - no thread.
