I went to Athens yesterday (Sat) and got skunked. First time I have zeroed on any lake in a long time. I talked to another fisherman who said the bite shut off around 6:30 am. I got on the water around 6:45. I tried a little of everything/color I had in the box. None of the usual baits/spots that have produced for me in the past at Athens worked. I must have had a bad smell on my hands!

I just freaking asked a question. If he ate them thats perfectly fine with me. Helll, we were down there 2 weeks ago and kept a deep hooked fish and some spots for a fish fry. Yummmm

Got up late Saturday and didn't go to Rayburn. I'll make that trip next weekend.
So I went Athens on Saturday,,,,,along with 150 other boats. "small" tournament plus
Had to put up with folks driving around the ramp line like they were the only ones there.
...."Oh,, I am not in "your" tournament so I thought I could just go around"......
But once on the water there was no one in my #1 spot,how lucky.
2--overs & 10 slots from 6am until 7:30 & then it was just like turning off the faucet.
went home at 9:30,,,,cleaned my garage, watched some football, got a nap & THEN
watched OU beat up on Baylor. GREAT GAME !!!!! BOOMER SOONER.
went back out to Athens this morning,,,,,cooler, rainy &no bites !!!!!
5:30 till 10am
I thought fish were supposed to bite in cloudy rainy low pressure days ?
