Can you troll this time of year or is that a summer only thing?

We caught some trolling earlier this week at tawakoni

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Most definitely. Fish have been hitting pet spoon rigs on Texoma. I am thinking that with the recent fish "turn on", we'll see some bigger ones caught trolling.

We are fishing the Soldiers Operation Welcome Home next week end (20 Nov) and there will be some folks trolling. I'll update what happens.

Trolling Pet Spoons are a great way to catch them. Try using a #13 Pet Spoon about three feet behind a DD22, this will take the Pet Spoon down deeper, I remove the back hook off of the DD22 and place a swivel there. You you find that the fish will hit both lures.

Good Luck!

Agree on the #13. I use the #13 with the foil on them.

I use them with or without foil, silver and gold, which ever color is working I switch to. Also, I try to use the spoons that have the feather near the tail of the spoon, they seem to get more bites. Some days yellow feather works better than white feather.

I use the #13 with a DD22 also but with a three way swivel. This seems to create more drag so I dont get as deep but I have the confidence with two trebel hooks. I recently caught my PB black on the DD as I was retrieving after a troll. Bonus fish!

I am thinking about adding weight to this rig. Have any of you tried that before?

Put a one ounce disc sinker in place of the front treble hook
