Hey guys never been to lake bastrop and wanted to go this weekend. Is it fishable after the flood?

I will appreciate any comments to see if it is worth fishing this weekend or if I should wait.

Thanks

Floods shouldn't be a problem. Lake is fed by small creeks and most of the water is pumped in from Clorado River.

Rains don't affect this lake much but the small creeks will be off color.
Was out yesterday and the two of us boated over 40.

Just about everything worked, SBs, cranks, 7.5" and 10" worms, twitch baits and wacky.
Grass edges, inside the grass, mud flats......

Game warden told me that they are not using the river pumps, they have drilled a few water wells and this is how they are keeping it full now.

Keep an eye out for a gator in this lake too. I haven't seen it, but I've read several posted reports on those who have. They claim to have seen it around the discharge area.

I saw a beaver. Does that count?

And I lost my Frogg Togs too. If anyone found a bag of black XXL Frogg Togs Wednesday at the boat ramp....

You know how social media can be some times, even I would have to see this gator before I would believe there is one in there. But I thought I would pass this new info on. Not like someone is gonna jump in the lake to go swimming this time of the year, but if you see something weird, you might want a get a better or closer look at it. I would any ways. I took a guy to this lake a month a go and he asked me if there were gators in this lake. I told him no at that time. I just read this like a week a go.

From some reports I've read, there is a good chew going on in this lake right now. Fish the grass and get bit. Thats how easy they said it was. A guy caught like 40, another guy caught 30 something, so the chew is good right now.

Saw a nice 8 ft gator on Lake Raven Christmas Eve. Woulda made a nice pair of boots, but don't think the game warden would have been amused.

They may not be using the river pump but they are not using the water wells either. I don't care what the powers-to-be say; the lake, as of a week ago, was not full. I've seen the lake full. If someone can show me a water level graph for Bastrop (or FCL), I'd love to see it. I don't care how much water they may or may not be releasing. Go to TPWD's fishing report website. Nothing. Water Data for Texas. Nothing.

Scroll down and the Bastrop and Fayette levels are listed.

http://www.lcra.org/water/river-and-weather/pages/lower-basin-stream-flow.aspx

I think Fayette normal level is 390ft.

Thank you. What is Bastrop normally? This says Lake "Bastrop at Sim Gideon Power Plant", Stage (ft) -449.11.
