I keep hearing that Talons are noisy. A Talon makes an electric motor noise for about ten seconds that is no louder than your trolling motor on low. The noise complaint is a non-issue if you have a trolling motor because it is essentially the same noise but above the waterline. Silly complaint.

I sell both, but lean more toward the power pole. I have had mine wedged down in the rocks around the bridges and would not pull up, but you can drive foward and pull them out without any damage. I would be afraid to do that with talons.

I've never owned Talon's. But I have owned several Power Poles.

From a functional standpoint I like being able to raise or lower the PP regardless of the situation, i.e., crossing under a low bridge or forgetting that they are deployed.

If bridge is too low then you just lower the PP with the remote, low enough to clear the bridge. With Talon, you have to physically get up and un-pin them and fold them forward and then re-pin them to continue to wherever your headed. By all means don't forget to raise them if they are deployed and you start to take off.

If you are fishing and have PP deployed, you can put the hammer down and no problem in most all situations without any damage. Check out Power Poles on U-Tube for full demonstrations of their applications and advantages then decide.

A club member got caught on Raybob in blue norther a few years ago. He came from Wolf to the marina. His boat took such a beating that his Power Pole pump fitting broke and filled his bilge with hydraulic fluid, rendering his pumps useless. The water was level to his back deck when he got to the marina. I think the Poles look "cooler" and weigh less, but I had 2 '12 Talons on my last boat and will have 2 '12 on my next one for that one reason.

Every time i have seen a line leak or fitting issue, it never was installed proper to start with. The lines will sometimes blow off if it is not torqued right. The fitting has to be tighted to the point there are no threads left and you think it is going to twist off. A properly install power pole is trouble free. Some things need to be professionaly installed to prevent problems later on.

Talons work great but, what I didn't like about them was the bracket sticks out to far from the boat and stumps would get hung in between the boat and bracket and if you fold them down on the deck my customers would trip on them. I have poles now and love them! The brackets are close to the boat, not as heavy or bulky, and you can just let them down half way and there out of the way!

Plenty of issues with both. One thing I have noticed is that there are more talons on the bottom of Rayburn then power poles. Buy what u like.

Because I'm sure Minn Kota's marketing team has not thought of this and doesn't try the same thing...
