I am off tomorrow and heading out to fish the spill way at lake Ray Roberts in Sanger. I've caught a few cats here before but I see guys bring in 10-15 sometimes, they have open the spill way more so there will be fresh water flowing and lots of shad to catch for bait. has anyone fished here and had great success? what kind of rig set up should I use and what other techniques do you guys recommend? If anyone is off and wants to join me let me know or if anyone has some open seats on your boat and would like a fishing buddy im down to pitch in for gas.

I have fished there the last time they opened it up. There are some big cats in there. I use at least 4 oz weight just to hold it on the bottom.

So to share my results, there is plenty of shad so the fish were biting, caught about 5 blues and a 25lbs flat head on a hand size shad.

went back yesterday, hooked a good size cat but horrible luck with one of my reels that had thinner line. got the fish across the stream of flowing water then when I try to let some line out to release tension the line busted. fished for about 3 more hours and no luck, very little shad yesterday. crappie fished and landed about 15 good size one, the crappie are on fire.
