Sorry for the long post, trying to buy a whole new arsenal of rods this year and looking for your guys help. I apologize for the length of this, but your opinion is greatly appreciated. Below is the type of rods I want to have setup 100% of the time. So I am looking for your thoughts on what length they should be and if they should be h,mh,m,etc. I plan on buying these 17 new rods. If you think I am missing a setup that I should also always have setup, please add your input
1. Frog
2. Topwater ( Zara spook, ribbit, skinny dipper, buzz bait, etc)
3. Spinnerbait/chatterbait
4. Jerkbait
5. Senko
6. Swim jig
7. Squarebill
8. Carolina rig
9. Texas rig
10. Flipping pitching jig
11. Wacky worm (spinning rod)
12. Fluke ( spinning rod)
13. Shakey head ( spinning? or baitcaster?)
14. Punching
15. Rattletrap
16. 5xd 6xd crank baits
17. Drop shot (spinning)

You can really combine a lot of those. For instance, wacky/fluke/shakey/drop shot. You can probably cut that list in half and have rods that will handle everything you listed.

I think you will find so many different answers that it will just confuse you, that is if many take the time to list 17 rods.
To give you a good starting point go to St Croix rods website and look up the Mojo Bass series. They list 17 technique specific rods.
I use some of them and they have been pretty good but I have been picking up Power Tackle rods when I can and will eventually run all Power Tackle.
I think that you will find several techniques can be performed with the same rod. For example a 7'3 MH works great for spinnerbaits, tx rig worms and swim jigs.

 If the picture uploaded correctly, here is a spreadsheet that I have of my main arsenal of rod and reel combos. If I change something on any of the combos, I always make note of it so that I can keep track of it. The spreadsheet notes what particular method each combo is specific for including the reel info, rod info, additional methods, line type and size, etc. Maybe this can help you out some. Good Luck!

I would spend the same $ and get 9 rods. Maximum 2 spinning, easily can get by with 1 in Tx. Spend twice as much per rod on slow presentations like jig/T-rig/C-rig as you do on cranking/swimming - just way more bang for the $ IMO

Why would you need to know budget if he is just asking for rod length and power and not brands? Is it because there is no universal scale for power and it is brand dependent? I also like the recommendation of going to the St Croix website. Most manufactures do not have the same exact power ratings.

For what you listed, I'd be satisfied with 11 to 13 rods (some of them serving multiple purposes)
1 x (Xtra Heavy / Xtra Fast / 7'6")
1 x (Heavy / Xtra Fast / 7'0")
1 x (Heavy / Fast / 7'6")
1 x (Heavy / Fast / 7'0")
1 x (Heavy / Medium / 7'6")
1 x (Med Heavy / Fast / 7'0")
1 x (Med Heavy / Fast / 6'9")
2-4 x (Med Heavy / Med Fast / 7'0")
2 x (Med / Fast / 6'9")
(Power / Action / Approximate Length) - Different brands all have slightly different metrics
1. (XH / XF / 7'6") Frog
14. (XH / XF / 7'6") Punching
10. (H / XF / 7'0") Flipping pitching jig
8. (H / F / 7'6") Carolina rig (Carolina rods tend to double as good jig / frog rods too)

Just buy 3 rods
Medium Moderate
MH Fast
Heavy Fast
length is what you like to handle and what you fish best with
spinning or bait cast is whatever floats your boat.
Brand and $$$spent,,,,well 2 schools of thought here (as in Most things),,,,,,,, if you are tournament fishing and think you might miss a fish or are you just sport fishing ????
Each person has their own favorites
My biggest fish has come on an Ugly Stick
My best day was with Abu Garcia Veritas
My go to rod is a St Croix
My high dollar expensive rods (plural) sit in the corner of my fishing shed.
To each his own,,,,just have fun buying and using them.

17. Drop shot (spinning) Take this list to Ron @ Reel time Rods @ Lake Fork (Popes Landing) and let him build you the rods. He makes the best ever drop shot rod. You will be able to use the same rod for some of the techniques you listed but you still will need several to cover all the techniques you listed.
