Well we went fishing at SPI and we went about 12 miles north of entrance 5 and we ran into some reds and some whiting. We put the reds in the cooler but had the whiting (12) on a stringer attached to one of the rod holders.
All of a sudden my buddy yelled shark'''' and if a 6-7 foot bull shark came into about a 1 1/2 feet of water and grabbed the stringer and chewed it off and left with 9 whiting and the float that was on the end of the stringer.
We got at least 30 seconds to watch this as the bull shark was thrashing around trying to get into the shallow water so he could grab the stringer.
Just amazing. I just wish we could of got a picture of this.
I think we will put our fish in the cooler now and not on a stringer....

I've heard of sharks doing that while wading the surf. Never had it happen to me but I use a very long stringer when wading.

It is quite the surprise when one starts dragging you out to sea when wading. Learn real quick why the old farts told you to make sure that stringer was loose.

Had a small gator do that to me once in a river; I had dinner on a stringer tied to my belt. I felt that yank and my heart stopped....... I was wrecked for the rest of the day.

I have seen dolphin try to take fish right from the side of the boat while reeling them in as well as shark which is why my dinner always goes in the cooler when I am in salt water.

That's why they make long stringers to put fish on! Especially when wading.

That had to be Scary, I'm not much on wading, kind of like surfing when I was young. Your bait the second you step off in that salt, I'll stay in the boat... LOL
