Who uses something other than a standard reel for bigger baits (a-rig/swimbaits)? I think I thrashed my Lews BB1 by throwing heavy rigs. The reel wouldn't stay engaged. Pulled it apart and found a broken screw post one the palming side plate. I put it back together right on the other three connections, but pretty sure it won't hold up. What reel would be a good low profile reel in a heavy duty construction for these big baits?

Not looking to spend $500 either , $200-$300 I would call mid-high end.

Old greenie curados are bulletproof

Or upsize to a 300 sized frame for heavier applications

I just bought a Diawa Luna 253. Really nice. Small enough to still palm in my hands but larger capacity and more heavy duty than all my low profile reels. Very smooth. Perfect for medium to large swimbaits or A-rigs. Carlos w/River-A-Tackle on here saved me some money also.

I use both the Curado 300E and 200I

Gear durability on the 200I is stronger than any of the old 200 sizes. Only reason I use the 300E is for line capacity with heavy line, 20-25lb.

Citica 200D is what I use. Great reels for the mid range baits/a rigs

I use lexa 300's for both of my big swimbait setups. I think I'm gonna try a Luna when I'm in the market for my next.
I would definitely suggest using a beefier reel for heavier baits, it's a good investment IMO.

Swimbaits Only.

I bought a Lexa 300 for that application, spooled it with power pro braid and only used it a handful of times. It doesn't cast all that good and is noisy as heck. I put it on the shelf and almost forgot about it until I seen they were $200, I forgot I paid that for it so I'm going to try lubing it and put it back in the fleet.
