After hauling my kayak on my 2011 Malibu yesterday I came to the realization that I will not be doing this anymore until I get a roof rack. First area of concern was the antenna on the back of the roof. That caused some issues because I wasn't able to get the foam block close to the window where there is more support. The next problem was the fact that there are ZERO tie down points on the car. My Accord had tow point in the front and rear which made perfect tie down spots, this car has none so I had to find the most sturdy area to attach the straps.

Any recommendations would be great. I don't think I am going to be able to use any type of foam block style system on this car, but I can't exactly drop $500 bucks on a good rack with saddles.

Have you seen the roof rack that Sleeping Tyger has for sale in the Kayak Classified forum ? I'm using that plus a couple of saddles I bought from http://www.hoosieradventureoutfitters.com/used-rack-systems.html if you go to him tell him I sent you . he set me up with the whole system for about $500.00 .

I got my roof rack off Amazon ($250 shipped I think) Rhino Rack was the brand. It worked great for me! And a good solution to the tie down problem is these straps http://www.austinkayak.com/products/1556/Yak-Gear-Hood-Loops-2-pk.html.

Just take out a fender bolt and bolt them back in with that same bolt on the fron under the hood and then you can do the same on the rear finding a bolt for the trunk ( i used my hinge bolt on my fusion. Then you just unfold em when need em and fold em back in when you arent using them. Works great!

I got a Yakima rack I'd sell you for a sweet price but I'm in Austin and won't ship it so you'd need to make arrangements. Has Q towers, locks, fairing and cross bars. PM me if interested
