StateFarm customers (homeowner/condo/renters) between 2003 and 2008, check that mail before throwing it away!!

I was surprised that this was a settlement from the years 2003 thru 2008, back when I was a Happy StateFarm Customer, and that it wasn't the result of more recent activity by SF, but I guess we could be happier in another 7 to 10 years for those rediculous SF Home owner rate increases.

I had my boat and house covered by StateFarm back in 2003 (house starting in 1999) thru 2013. I had enjoyed the boat coverage with SF, but I was fed up with the high and constant rate increases (with no claims on my dwelling) by StateFarm during the year prior to leaving StateFarm (and hear it was not approved by the Texas Department of Insurance and the Office of Public Insurance Counsel) and finding a much cheaper rate thru this forum with Nationwide (Home). When I complained to my agent, he blamed it on the damage in other areas (West Texas and Gulf regions).

I periodically received mail/cards from StateFarm trying to encourage me to return with their "Better Customer service and new competitive rates", and I normally trash it (often I don't open it). Yesterday, I received a letter (a little different look) from SF, and was pleasantly surprised to find a sizable check, which is the result of a settlement (plus interest) regarding rates charged by State Farm Lloyds in 2003 thru 2008, and agreement between the Texas Department of Insurance and the Office of Public Insurance Counsel.

I was very close to throwing it away.

Thanks for the post. My wife throws away mail left and right if she thinks it might be junk mail.

Dang! I'll bet I threw one away. After I left SF after 35yrs I just started throwing everything from them since then in the trash.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
