I was going to buy some already made from BPS or Cabelas, but I can't seem to stop myself from going DIY on any project I can possibly take on. So... New tackle bag! 1680 denier ballistic nylon, polypropylene webbing handles, stitched with heavy duty nylon thread. Should be able to take a few years of getting knocked around. Also have the pieces cut out for a slightly smaller version, but haven't put it together yet.
As a side note, I also made the TV trays the stuff is sitting on.
Anyone else a DIY junkie?

Well let's see, years ago I made my own fly fishing vest out of a XXL dickies shirt I bought at the outlet, built my own canoe, and started doing gunsmithing by reading and then doing it. Built several nice rifles for myself and started a machine shop and gunsmithing service with a friend in TN. I learned how to replace the rear quarter panels myself on the car I'm restoring as well. Guess you could call me a DIY kinda guy. Still using the vest to this day and I still don't think anyone believes I made it myself.

What kinda sewing machine is that, where do you get it, how much does it cost, and how hard is it to learn to sew that kinda stuff? Man, being able to stitch with heavy duty nylon would sure be a money saver.

Looks like a nice tackle bag, I took sewing in school so I could do a custom interior on my car. Not sure I could still do it but that interior turned out nice.

I only make everything myself.

Believe it or not, it's just a regular old sewing machine I got at Sears. I bought some heavy duty needles for this kind of thing, and it barely has enough juice to sew stuff this thick, but I take it slow and it does the job. It can barely pull the nylon thread through the bobbin since it's so thick.

And nice baits they are. I caught a bass on one last weekend cranking it around some riprap.
It's funny you related sewing to working on your car interior. I actually learned how to sew from a guy at a collision repair shop about 25 years ago. I made the drummer in my band some soft-sided drum cases to take on the road with us. I made them out of the heavy canvas stuff they make convertible tops out of for the outside and the spongy liner used for the ceiling on a hard top car for the inside. Came out pretty nice and they lasted for years of abuse traveling around in our converted school bus.
