I live near Houston and plan to fish Tawakoni this weekend with my teenage son. Can someone point me in the general direction for some great fall hybrid/striper fishing? I have never fished the lake before, so anything will help. Thanks!

If nobody else chimes in, just look for the birds.

Birds, edges of humps and ledges. South end has been better from what ive heard. There is a lot of timber that is just under the surface at midlake.

Had a good trip on Saturday 11/7. I would focus on the NE side of the lake anywhere from the dam to the bridge. Fish were holding in 14-28 feet on humps and ledges. There were plenty of birds working the area. Good luck.

Was out there today. Very tough day, chased birds all day until we found them in 14-17ft by the dam

It's a 4-1/2 hour drive from the house to Lake Tawakoni. How has the fishing been this week? Haven't seen too many reports... Birds still working? I don't wanna drive that far if the fishing has slowed way down from last week.
Thanks and God Bless!

Cooler temps 48/62 Saturday, Sunday looks cool and grey, winds should not be a problem We are headed out this afternoon but we are fishing north of the bridge and plan to fish tomorrow,...

If I was driving 4 1/2 hours I'd hire a guide.

If I was driving 4 1/2 hours I'd hire a guide. +1, bring your boat, hire Matt Cartwright for morning trip, then hit the lake on your own later... if need to stay at the Shoestring Farm across the street from holiday marina. Pick on Matt's brain if you want to learn the lake, the man was born and raised in Wills Point just minutes from lake Tawakoni.
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

It was very slow for us late this afternoon. North wind to about 15 did not help...
